This has got to be the coolest interview, cos I'll be going under the needle myself in a little while
OUCH! JO REVEALS THE JOY AND PAIN OF HER BODY DECORATIONS...
When did you have your first tattoo done?
I had my first one done when I was 18, which was a butterfly on my bum!
What did your parents say?
I didn't dare tell my dad when I had my first tattoo! It wasn't too difficult to keep it quiet, cos it was on my bum. But he eventually found out a year later and went completely ballistic! I'd told my brother, who then kept dropping hints to my dad, and finally my dad asked to see it so I had to admit it. As for my mum, she was pretty angry at first but then she decided it was quite cool - although I haven't persudaded her to have one done!
Did it hurt?
Er, yes!!! At least it always does with me. Probably the one that hurt the most was the Chinese emblem at the bottom of my spine which I had done in Miami. It's in a very sensitive position. The other tattoo that hurt was the one on my ankle, cos it's actually done on the bone. You're not allowed to take any painkillers, you just have to go in and have it done.
Did you scream?
No, I just bit the chair instead. In my local tattooist, you're given a lump of wood which you put in your mouth and chew on it! In America they didn't do that, so I had to chew on the chair.
And what about piercings?
As well as my ears, I have my belly button pierced. I was a complete baby when I had my belly button pierced. I had to lay on this bed and I didn't feel anything until I looked down and saw this plastic spole sticking through my belly button. Rachel was with me and she said all the colour drained out of my face and I really did go grey - my face that is, not my hair!
Do you worry about what your tattoos and piercings will look like when you're much older?
No! I don't worry what they'll look like when I'm 60 cos who amd I going to show my body to when I'm that old? All of mine can be hidden and anyway I'll be wearing cardigans by then!
So which body part is next for tattooing or piercing?
None! Each time I have a tattoo, I always say, never, ever again. But then after a while, I seem to forget about the pain and somehow change my mind. Still I think I have enough now.
Jo's Top Tips For Body Decoration
1. Whil I'd always say do what you wanna do, you should only get a tattoo done if you really want it, cos it's there for life. It costs a lot to get it removed by laser and i've heard it hurts more than having the actual tattoo!
2. Don't rush into it like I did, and if you want to avoid family bust-ups, talk to your parents first!
3. Make sure you go to a tattooist or body-piercer who is really clean and hygenic.
Her Tattoos...
Well, she's got the coolest barbed wire round her left arm, a butterfly on her bum, a tribal sun at the small of her back, a dolphin (The Fish) on her belly with stars round it, a crescent moon and stars on her foot and ankle. I think that's all six. Yea, that's all 6.
